For my 2-D project, I decided to draw a girl leaning against the stump of a tree. I put a single tear rolling down the girl's cheek to show that the girl had a connection with it.. The carving on the stump suggests that she grew up around this tree. The reason I picked this topic was that people see trees and flowers and rivers all the time, and they take it for granted. People will cut down the trees, pick the flowers, and pollute the rivers without realizing that some people don't take nature for granted and have grown attached to these things. I chose to use this quote from the song, "The Giving Tree" by the Plain White T's because someone looked over my shoulder while I was drawing and said it reminded them of the book, "The Giving Tree." I think this quote gives a perfect narrative to the picture. It shows that nature shouldn't be treated with disrespect. I'm really happy with how that message came across in my drawing. |
